The GPS-44 is a high performance serial (RS232) GPS Receiver designed for permanent external installations in the marine environment.
This is a very tough device in an extremely slim design which can be pole
mounted or flush mounted or rail-mounted (requires accessory).
Its standard NMEA output can be used to feed any compatible instruments as well as the PC (ie: DSC/GMDSS radio, RADAR,
plotter etc).

Installation
The GPS-44 can be flush mounted, pole or rail mounted.
- Pole Mounting The GPS base is
fitted with standard diameter screw to fit inside a stainless steel
pole. A funnel-shaped sleeve neatly covers the join.
-
Flush Mounting Remove and discard
the sleeve, and use strong marine sealant to glue the GPS directly to
the surface.
-
Rail Mounting The pictured
accessory is required to mount the GPS antenna to a horizontal rail.
This rail mounting accessory is a standard item and available from
Marine Suppliers or Radio/Electronics stores.
If the cable must be cut to allow feeding through
limited access areas (ie pushpit tubing) then it is highly advised to
cut the 9-pin plug off the computer end of the cable. Leave a six
inch (15cm) "tail" on this plug for re-attachment, or purchase
a new "9-pin male D plug" from a computer or electronics
shop.
